Need

Can anyone ever truly be thankful, without ever experiencing the need?

We say we are thankful for food...clothes...and a home...
Have we ever had to do without?

We are thankful for family, friends, a good paying job...
Have we ever been alone or unemployed?

I can be thankful for each and every wonderful day of my life...
But they have always been there...and I am assured that they will more than likely continue on for quite some time.

My whole life has been a blessing...a precious gift from God; the people, the experiences, the joys...
I do not know how to be thankful for them...not in a manner suitable for the Almighty.

My human nature tells me to want more...

But it is the lack of need that I am truly thankful for.
