Roost v1.0

Last November, in an effort to keep both my sketching and design abilities fresh, I entered the Pioneer's Park Nature Center Artistic Birdhouse Competition in which the top 30 designs (selected from a small thumbnail sketch) would be chosen and thereby given the go-ahead to be built for auction this coming April.

My sketch:

Received notice late December that mine was chosen to be built (no commission...and on my own time :)  So I immediately scrambled to figure out how to make it work:

Late January...construction began (thanks to Anne for allowing me to takeover her basement):

 Fire-resistant: check!

Thanks to Dad for helping me with the mounting mechanism...and the use of his "test-pole" :)

Dropped it off today, and will now be on display (along with the other 29) around town until the auction in early April.

  2. Wow, your vision come to life! The moss roof is so cute. I'm sure the real cardinals were jealous of these two impostors!

  3. Auction - April 16th ;)

I've requested mine to be displayed at either The Mill or Indigo Bookstore...so that I can water the roof daily :)
